New Zealand Mosaic Art

Patsy Parkinson

My first experience with mosaics was during my Secondary School Years during art class, this is where art first became a passion and had meaning for me… It wasn’t until later in life that I went back to that passion, and then 8 years ago, mosaics really became part of my life.  I wanted more, and so with no formal training in mosaics I was inspired to attend various workshops to learn and later began to enter exhibitions to get the full experience of mosaic art.

I now work with a range of materials within my art, such as Tiles, Beads, Clay, Copper and Aluminum whilst also incorporating both sculpting/mosaicing using other forms of Tesserae.

In 2015 I was commissioned to facilitate a mosaic project within my local community, I also facilitate various workshops for educators within ECE as well as working alongside special needs children and young adults.

Although I have taken on commissions I prefer to work alongside people and help them create something of their own.
