The Tui Window (2021)
600 x 10 x 300mm, glass, glass tiles, pebbles and beads, recycled mirror cut offs on fibre cement board. As a family we enjoy bush walks and bird watching. Tuis are one of our favourite NZ native birds.
Hibiscus on Matau (2022)
380 x 18 x 210mm, glass, glass tiles, pebbles and beads on treated plywood. We honeymooned in Rarotonga and ever since, hibiscus and frangipani always remind me of our happy days there.
Fish or Not to Fish (2021)
390 x 10 x 300mm, glass, glass tiles and pebbles, recycled ceramic broken fish on fibre cement board. This trout was given to me by my friend already broken so that made it perfect for mosaicking. Recycling it was the best option to give it a second life.
Mosaic Heart with Piwakawaka (2022)
300 x 10 x 200mm, glass, glass tiles and beads on MDF. Friendly Piwakawaka are our favourite companions on bush walks.
Mosaic koru with Piwakawaka (2021)

Kotare (2022)
430 x 6 x 180mm, glass on clay. Kotare is another iconic bird in New Zealand.
Marina Howey
Location: Auckland, North Island, NZ
Marina Howey is a self-taught mosaic artist. She immigrated to New Zealand in 2004 from Irkutsk, Eastern Siberia, Russia, fell in love with this beautiful country and stayed. She started mosaicking in 2017. Lots of her mosaic work is influenced by NZ nature, native birds and plants.
