Orla the Owl - March 2023 75cm x 54cm
My very first mosaic in March 2022 was a small owl, so one year on I decided to do another owl. This is my favourite piece so far and is created on Aquamox using glass tiles.
Rainbow Rays - February 2023 41cm x 21cm
This was really fun to do and is on plywood using glass tiles and nuggets.
Call of the Wild, Wolf - June 2023 40cm x 40cm
Created on Aquamox using glass tiles and fused glass for eyes and nose. This is one of my first pieces using fused glass and I am really happy with how this has worked. The eyes follow you and the nose gives the piece a 3D effect.
Tree of Life - November 2022 59cm x 48cm
My first go with venturing into a more arty piece with this tree of life on plywood using glass tiles with ceramic tile border.
Pretty Polly - January 2023 36cm x 35cm
I have always enjoyed painting feathers and fur so it was a natural progression for me to use a similar subject for my mosaics. Glass tiles provide so many beautiful colour choices for this piece.
Sunburst - July 2023 40cm x 20cm
Created on a cold winter day, a lovely warm sunburst on Aquamox with glass tiles and glass fused sun and sun rays.
Julie Brisby
I had always known that I would enjoy mosaicking and after attending a workshop in March 2022 I was certain that I was going to set up a studio and give other people in Tauranga the opportunity to experience the joy of mosaics.
During my first year of mosaicking I have practiced a variety of subjects and techniques to learn all I can to pass on to others. I use mainly glass mosaic tiles as I love the colours and easy cutting, and I am now also experimenting with glass fusing to add to my creations. I am personally drawn to either nature or spiritual subjects.
I feel so fortunate to have discovered the joy of mosaics and love that I am able to provide others with the opportunity to have a go.
