Peacock
2014, 550 mm x 620 mm including frame. This mosaic was inspired by the peacocks of Jaipur. I have used glass and ceramic tiles and millifiore. The substrate is slate and tile underlay.
Purple Table
2014, 1100 mm diameter, slate and tile underlay with ply underneath for added strength. This project grew over several months starting with the traditional rope design around the edge. The black swirls echo the design of the cast iron base. All in vitreous glass with some millefiore.
Purple Fantasia
2017, 420 mm x 600 mm. I love purple, so this was a project to use every kind of purple tesserae I have in my shed. Ceramic and vitreous tile plated silver glass tile and millefiori on a Marmox base.
Max’s Floor
2018, ceramic tile on concrete. Max had collected various tiles with personal connections and lots of Mexican talavera tiles. The brief was to connect them all but not with straight lines. The result is a very beautiful colourful bathroom and toilet floor area. She is very happy that I managed to fulfil her vision .The final area of bathroom, foyer and toilet was approximately 2.5 x 4 metres.
Tui on Flax
2015, 500 mm x 600 mm, using all ceramic tile on a slate and tile base.
Rainbow Trout
2014, 750 mm x 370 mm. All done in vitreous glass tile. The substrate is slate and tile underlay.
Darienne Voyle
As Gardenmosaics I have been making mosaics for 15 years or so. I make native bird pavers and wall hangings and have also done floors and tables. I work with both ceramic and vitreous tile and incorporate other tesserae into my work. I cut and shape the tile pieces using various tools. I am happy to do commissions and also cut tile designs that others wish to use for their own mosaics. I have a large stock of vitreous tiles available for sale.
